For five plus years, Scotty has dedicated himself to towards his passion for film and video. Attending Columbia College Chicago full time while working forty hours a week, he still made time to pursue independent projects outside of Columbia. His first goal was to shoot a project on film, so in the summer of 2012, he assembled a crew then wrote, produced and directed the short film 'Composing' on super-16.
From there, he collaborated with other indie filmmakers, producing three more short films and the feature film, 'Finn & the Sea of Noise'. While producing other films he wrote, produced and directed his next short film, 'The Argonaut'. This too was shot on super-16 but it didn't come without it's new challenges.
Scotty and his crew had to assemble an entire set in his backyard and shoot overnight. 'The Argonaut' went on to be accepted into six film festivals including a premiere at the 39th Annual Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival. After producing Ryan Ohm's 'Finn & the Sea of Noise', Scotty went after his own feature film, 'Hooray for the Madness'. With the same crew, they went out to raise money for the film. After months of trying to gather funding, pre-production was halted. The following summer, Scotty decided to fund the film himself. 'Hooray for the Madness' is currently on the festival circuit and has already been accepted by two film festivals.
Since completing his first feature film, Scotty has spent his time directing commercials, shooting event videography and writing his next feature. While working in the retail industry to fund his passion projects, he hopes to one day turn filmmaking from a hobby to a career.
